Year 4 PSHE helps pupils develop the knowledge and skills to become responsible school citizens by understanding their rights, the importance of democracy, and respecting individual differences. It teaches awareness of bullying, peer influences, and strategies for achieving personal dreams and goals. Pupils learn about maintaining a healthy, balanced diet, the effects of smoking and alcohol, and the benefits of physical fitness. The curriculum also explores emotional topics such as jealousy, love, and loss, promotes building positive relationships, and supports understanding of puberty, reproduction, and coping with change.

In Year 6 PSHE, pupils explore their goals and worries for the year ahead while developing an understanding that everyone is different and deserves respect. They examine attitudes toward others, including those with disabilities, and learn to challenge stereotypes and stretch their own boundaries. Pupils focus on setting goals, understanding success criteria, and considering how they can contribute to making the world a better place through empathy and responsible choices. The curriculum addresses taking responsibility for personal health and wellbeing, including awareness of drugs, gangs, exploitation, and mental health. Pupils also learn about love, loss, and managing grief, while developing self-esteem and understanding the changes of puberty, the journey from conception to birth, and the dynamics of adolescent friendships.
